Calciphylaxis

The fatality rate of this disease is very high. Because patients with this disease often have numerous other maladies, certain treatments are invalid. Year 1 and 5 survival rates are estimated to be 45% and 35% respectively, and the fatality rates for patients with ulcerative disease are 60-80%. Patients who survive sepsis and/or organ failure often must undergo the amputation of the affected limb. (Medscape)
